Welcome to the Guided Exploring Way, a place to begin your exploration of the Center for Spiritual Imagination’s contemplative practices and philosophy. Guided Exploration is a great way to experiment with the prayer practices we teach in order to see what speaks to your sense of spirituality and how you experience God in your life, as well as to see whether you would like to join our community.

Exploring New Monasticism

Monasticism has always been a response to the deep human longing for God. From the desert fathers and mothers of Egypt and Palestine to the monasteries of Europe, it has shaped lives of prayer, simplicity, and service for centuries. But this course isn’t about the monasticism of the past—it’s about new expressions of monasticism emerging today, rooted in the same longing but responding to the unique challenges and possibilities of our time.

12 Steps for Contemplatives

Join us for individual practices and step work combined with community connection that will take place over the course of five months. This series will be co-facilitated by community members with a long history of practice in the 12 steps, both in recovery spaces and in the new monastic community.

Exploring Socially Engaged Mysticism

In this five-week series, we will explore the relationship between mystical practice and social action. Through conversation, study grounded in the work of Howard Thurman and contemplative practice, we will examine how the mystical tradition cultivates resilience, equanimity, and perseverance as God’s life moves through us and clarifies what is truly ours to do in the long work of justice.
